Located in the southeast of the province of Córdoba, near the mountains of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, we find Priego de Córdoba. It is of obligatory stop and a stepping stone in the route to the caliphate of old. There you will be able to enjoy religious constructions of the baroque style, as well as the local gastronomy. Sercotel Hotels offers the best destinations to choose hotels for Easter in Cordoba.
Baena is situated on the slope of a hill, surrounded by olive trees and cereal crops. The old town is located in the highest part of the hill and there are several monuments that must be visited, such as: the church of Santa María la Mayor dating from the 16th century, the convent church of Madre de Dios, founded in 1,510 and the fortress-castle in the 9th century.
To the south of the province of Córdoba, is Cabra. We emphasize the source of the river, the castle-palace and the baroque churches of Our Lady of the Assumption. Special mention should also be made of the Puerta del Sol and the large stately homes.
Lucena is one of the most populated cities in the province of Córdoba and there are several reasons to visit it. There we find the Gothic/Renaissance church of San Mateo dated between the fifteenth and sixteenth century. Also we will be able to see the castle and the palace of Medinaceli, as well as the house of the Counts of Santa Ana or the house of the Rico de Rueda.
In the area we can also find the Laguna Amarga Nature Reserve, the Laguna de los Jarales Nature Reserve and the Malpasillo Dam Nature Reserve.
The last recommendation we make is the town of Zuheros, in the Sierra de Córdoba. It is located at the feet of an Arab castle and we will find the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, as well as the local historical museum. We can also visit the bat cave, a natural cave under the mountain that was inhabited in the Neolithic. It is about 5 kilometres away and is also a good place to take pictures of the area due to its panoramic views.
