Hondarribia is one of the most charming villages in Guipúzcoa and the whole Basque country. A gastronomic destination par excellence, we recommend the pintxos, the tranquillity of the place, the old town and the beach. The village is surrounded by a medieval wall, unique in the Basque country and its houses have Basque motifs. The streets in the village centre are a real labyrinth to lose yourself in. One of the villages on the coast of Guipúzcoa is Zumaia. It is a place where the landscape is somewhat rushing due to its imposing cliffs and vegetation. Once in Zumaia, you have to visit San Pedro’s parish, dating from the 13th century. You also have to take a stroll through its narrow streets and see the Zumaia and Ubillos’s palace , as well as the house of Olazábal and Gokotorre.
Some 25 kilometres from San Sebastián is Getaria, a fishing village par excellence. There we can find the mount of San Antón, the port and above all take a walk or even bathe in the beach of Malkorbe and Gaztetape. The mount of San Antón is shaped like a mouse and the tail is where the village of Getaria is located.
One of the little hidden secrets of Guipúzcoa is the Aránzazu sanctuary. It is located only 10 kilometers from Oñate and was rebuilt by the well-known designer Eduardo Chillida. Its architecture is spectacular as well as disturbing. It is worth seeing the interior as well.
